Well, I'm here in Houston and my family is in the middle of a hurricane. It's a mild hurricane, but it's not fun to wait for news. Today, they were all safe and had no flooding in their homes or yards. Tonight, I saw pictures of the pond across the street from my parents' house that is overflowing its banks. The wind is pushing Lake Pontchartrain into LaPlace and that is what is causing this horrific widespread flooding. The constant rain is not helping. Isaac is a slow-moving hurricane so unfortunately the fear is that the flooding will get worse overnight, from what we've read on weather.com.
Here are two pictures taken today.
This is a neighborhood on the outskirts of LaPlace, taken earlier this afternoon.
Here is Robert in the background helping with the rescue effort.
This is the lake across the street from my parents' house. This is an empty lot and the picture is taken standing on the street. Their neighborhood was one of the last places to flood so far.
